Cowgirls Defeat Hungarian Team, 64-56

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- - Oklahoma State's defense stepped up dramatically in the final 10 minutes, giving up just two points as the Cowgirls defeated KSC-Szekszard of Hungary, 64-56, here Monday night in the Freede Wellness Center on the OCU Campus.
Junior Jessica Bates recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the victory, scoring all 13 points in the second half. Junior Kara Faulk joined Bates in the double-figure scoring category with 13 points of her own.
The Cowgirls led by as many as nine in the first half at 25-16 with 5-1/2 minutes in the period. However, KSC-Szekszard went on an 11-2 run to tie the game at 27-27. OSU took a one-point lead into the lockerroom, 31-30.
The Hungarians were on fire to start the second half, leading by as many as 12 with 11:36 remaining in the game. However, they would score only two more points the rest of the game as the Cowgirls put on a stifling defense and went on a 22-2 scoring route to end the game.
Natalia Kravchuk led the Hungarians with 14 points, while Judit Kaydacsi and Eva Sztoykovics each chipped in 12. They were held to their lowest scoring total in four games.
Oklahoma State (1-1 in exhibition games) will travel to Tulsa, Okla., this weekend to compete in the Bertha Teague Memorial Classic. The tournament begins on Friday with Oklahoma playing Tulsa at 6 p.m., followed by the OSU-Oral Roberts game at 8 p.m. On Saturday, OSU will play TU at 6 p.m., followed by the OU-ORU game at 8 p.m.
