May 19, 2026 | Cowgirl Basketball
STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball program has added Durmon Jennings to its coaching staff it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jacie Hoyt.
"I am very excited about Durmon and the energy he will bring to our program. It was very important for me to find someone who has a tremendous work ethic and passion for pouring into players and Durmon has all that and more," Hoyt said.
"He is a proven recruiter who has found ways to think outside the box to find talent. If you look at his background you see a unique ability to develop players, specifically post players, which is very important to match the talent we have on our roster. His infectious personality and energy are exactly what our program need as we continue to build to new heights."
Jennings spent the past six seasons as a member of the coaching staff at North Texas, the past two as its associate coach after serving in an assistant capacity his first four seasons.
"I am thrilled and appreciate the opportunity to work with Coach Hoyt and the Oklahoma State women's basketball team. It is impossible to not be excited about this deep and talented roster and I look forward to bringing energy and making an impact in Stillwater! Go Pokes!," Jennings said.
During his time in Denton, the Mean Green won 10-plus conference games in five of his six seasons and just completed their third consecutive 19-win season for the first time in program history.
Additionally, the Mean Green captured a share of the 2024 American Conference regular season championship and advanced to back-to-back national postseason tournaments in 2024 and 2025.
Jennings was instrumental in recruiting and developing two of the most successful forwards in program history in Megan Nestor and Tommisha Lampkin.
Nestor transformed from having never played competitive basketball until reaching college, then competing at the NAIA level to averaging a double-double for the Mean Green.
This past season, she averaged 12.8 points and 14.1 rebounds per game and finished the season as the NCAA's leading rebounder. Nestor received several postseason accolades from the American Conference, including Defensive Player of the Year and first-team all-conference recognition.
Under Jennings' guidance, Lampkin improved her production each season at North Texas and ultimately became the program's record holder for career rebounds, double-doubles and games played, while also ranking top three in career points, field goal percentage and blocks.
In total, Jennings has coached four post players to five All-Conference honors while at North Texas.
Prior to his stint in Denton, Jennings spent two seasons as the associate head coach at Eastern New Mexico where he helped guide the Greyhounds to the second-highest win total in program history with their 22-9 mark in 2019-20.
He previously served as a graduate assistant coach on the ENMU men's staff during the 2015-16 season and fall 2016 semester before transitioning into a volunteer role that next spring.
Jennings spent time as a boys' varsity and junior varsity coach at Durango High School in Las Vegas for two years and was a 17U coach for the Elite Youth Basketball League in the summer of 2015 and 15U coach for the Under Armour Association the summer prior.
In 2013, Jennings served as an intern for the NBA Summer League, as well as for the athletic administration at UNLV. Prior to his move to Las Vegas, he coached in Indianapolis as a girls' basketball and track and field coach at Warren Central High School for two years. Jennings originally started coaching in 2011 at Manual High School for the girls' basketball team.
Jennings earned his bachelor's degree in sports management at the University of Indianapolis in 2013 after playing on the men's basketball team at Geneva College for the 2007-08 season. He eventually earned his master's degree in sports administration from Eastern New Mexico in 2016.
Jennings and his wife, Hiwot, have two children, Gabrielle and Gianna.
