Alessio Basile Named Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year

STILLWATERÂ -Â Alessio Basile has been named as the 2026 Big 12 men's tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year, as announced this afternoon by the conference.Â
Basile finished his collegiate career with a 3.858 GPA and participated in 96% of matches in his final season as a Cowboy. The senior from Belgium joins Isaac Becroft (2024) and Lucas Gerch (2016) as the previous Cowboys to win the award since its inception in 2013. Cowboy Tennis now holds the most Big 12 men's tennis Scholar Athletes of the Year.
The longest tenured Cowboy has spent all four of his collegiate years at Oklahoma State and amassed 35 singles wins, 45 doubles wins and participated in over 81 college tennis matches. In terms of academics, Basile has already been placed on the Academic All-Big 12 Teams and been named as an ITA Scholar Athlete his sophomore and junior year.Â
Basile is set to graduate in just over a week with a degree in finance and will return home to Belgium to continue his pursuit at professional tennis.
