Cowgirls carry seven-stroke lead into final round of Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma State women's golf headed south Saturday to Belmar Golf Club in Norman for the first two rounds of the Schooner Fall Classic, highlighted by Ellie Bushnell's second-round 65.
The Cowgirls opened the day with a 6-under, 274-stroke first round. OSU sat in third place after the first half of the day's action, trailing then-leader Texas State by five strokes.
The Pokes caught fire in the afternoon session, posting a combined 270-stroke, 10-under par scorecard. This marked the lowest team round Saturday and made Oklahoma State one of only two programs to shoot under par in both rounds, along with the hosting Oklahoma Sooners. The Cowgirls sit 16 strokes under par and carry a seven-stroke lead into the final round.
Ellie Bushnell continued her red-hot start to the fall season with a first-round 69 (-1) and a second round 65 (-5). Bushnell's 65 ties for the third-lowest 18-hole score in OSU history. The third-year Cowgirl has shot under par in four of five rounds to start the year and is tied for fourth place at 6-under par.
Golfweek All-American Grace Kilcrease led the team with a 3-under 67 in the first round and promptly returned with another 3-under 67 in the second round. Kilcrease shares possession of fourth place with teammate Ellie Bushnell (-6).
Marta Silchenko was the third and final Poke to shoot under par in both rounds Saturday, carding a 68 (-2) in each. The junior picked up eight birdies and is tied for eighth place at 4-under par, rounding out the list of Pokes in the top 10.
True freshman Yu-Chu Chen opened with a 2-over 72, followed by an even-par 70 in the second round, the best score of her young collegiate career.
Tarapath Panya made her season debut, carding a 70 (E) in the first round and a 73 (+3) in the second.
Summer Lee competed as an individual, posting scores of 73 (+3) and 74 (+4).
The Cowgirls return to action Sunday morning, 10 a.m. CDT, for the third and final round of the Schooner Fall Classic.
