Cowgirl Golf tied for sixth after opening day of Lady Luck Invitational

LAS VEGAS – Oklahoma State women's golf began competition at the Lady Luck Invitational on Monday, ending the day in a tie for sixth place.
In 36 holes of play, the Cowgirls opened with a 308 (+20) before improving by 10 strokes in the second round, adding a 298 (+10) to finish the day at 30-over-par.
OSU enters tomorrow's third and final round trailing first-place UCF by 22 strokes.
Marta Silchenko led the Cowgirls, carding rounds of 76 (+4) and 72 (E) to claim a share of 17th place with 18 holes left to play. Since making her spring debut in Jacksonville last week, the junior from Riga, Latvia, has played at par-or-better twice through five rounds.
After posting a 9-over 81 in the first round, Ellie Bushnell rebounded with an even-par 72 in the second. The 9-stroke improvement resulted in a 26-spot jump on the individual leaderboard for Bushnell, who closed Monday's action tied for 30th place. The third-year Cowgirl also picked up her 250th career birdie on the Las Vegas Country Club's par-4 12th hole.
Summer Lee carded rounds of 77 (+5) and 75 (+3) and currently sits in a tie for 26th place.
True freshman Yu-Chu Chen added a 76-79—155 (+11) scorecard.
Lucy Darr and Grace Kilcrease went 15 and 17-over on the day, respectively. Darr carded her 100th career birdie on the par-5 18th hole.
The Cowgirls return to action tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CDT for the third and final round of the Lady Luck Invitational. Oklahoma State will be paired with Baylor and UTSA.
