Cowboy Tennis Opens Road Trip in Arizona

The Basics
Oklahoma State's men's tennis team will hit the road for the first of a five-match road trip this weekend. The Cowboys will face Arizona at 4 p.m. CT on Friday at the Robson Tennis Center and Arizona State at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday at the Whiteman Tennis Center. OSU is 1-3 against Arizona and 3-0 against Arizona State. The Cowboys are aiming to beat the Wildcats and the Sun Devils for the first time since 2005 and 2020, respectively.Â

Meet the Cowboys
Graduate student Isaac Becroft leads the Cowboys. The captain is one of five returning players from last year's 18-10 squad that went to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Other returners include Alessio Basile, Francisco Pini, Derek Pham, and Ty Wunderlich. Head Coach Dustin Taylor brought in six freshmen in this year's recruiting class, including Tennessee transfer Nicolas Kobelt, Ian Bracks, Thomas Gadecki, Matei Onofrei, Ben Stecker, and Finn Hopfe.Â

As of March 26, the Cowboys checked in at No. 5 in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing fourth in the Big 12 tournament in the 2024 season. Isaac Becroft, currently 6-5 on the season, is the lone ranked singles player coming in at No. 87. The Cowboy tandem of Alessio Basile and Nicolas Kobelt checked in at No. 58 in doubles. The duo is 6-4 overall and 1-1 against ranked opponents. OSU garnered its first team ranking of the season, checking in at No. 74.Â

Pham has won nine-straight singles matches for the Cowboys, leading the team with 11 overall wins. The sophomore from New Zealand has only dropped three sets during his nine-match streak. In every match Oklahoma State has won this season, Pham has won his match.Â
