Cowboy Indoor Track & Field cracks top 10 in USTFCCCA National Ranking Index for first time this season heading into NCAA Championships

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Men's Indoor Track & Field entered the top 10 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rating Index heading into the NCAA Championships, the organization announced Tuesday.
After filtering out athletes not entered in events they competed in the regular season, but won't for the NCAA Championships, the Cowboys moved up four spots from No. 14 to No. 10 with 65.36 ranking points. The Distance Medley Relay squad of Brian Musau, Jordon Smith, Mehdi Yanouri and Ryan Schoppe lead the way with 17.62 points as they sit third in the NCAA with their time of 9:16.24 at the Arkansas Qualifier, which is also the third-fastest time in world history.
Musau is also qualified in the 5,000 and 3,000 Meters, where he is ranked fourth and 14th, respectively, totaling 17.42 ranking points. Fouad Messaoudi (No. 4, Mile), Laban Kipkemboi (No. 9, Mile) and Denis Kipngetich (No. 11, 5,000 Meters) round out the qualified Cowboys, making up the rest of OSU's ranking points.
The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships are being held March 14 and 15 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va. Action in Virginia kicks off Friday, March 14 with the women's 800 Meter semifinals at 3:20 p.m. CT. The Cowboys open with the men's Mile semifinals at 6 p.m. CT.
