Softball America has the Pokes at No. 12 and D1Softball has the Cowgirls at No. 11.
In a vote by the Big 12's head coaches, Oklahoma State was picked to win the league for the first time in program history.
Oklahoma State from a Distance
After playing the toughest schedule in the nation through the first two weeks of competition, the Oklahoma State softball team sits at 5-4 with wins over No. 9 Florida State, No. 5 Texas A&M and No. 14 Alabama. Six of the Cowgirls first nine games came against ranked opponents, while four of those six were against top-10 opponents.
Offensively, sophomores Rosie Davis and Karli Godwin picked up where they left off as freshmen, as the former leads the team in RBIs (eight), while the latter leads the team with a .481 batting average. Graduate transfers Megan Delgadillo (Cal State Fullerton) and Rachael Hathoot (New Mexico) have both made their impacts felt, with Delgadillo pacing the team with nine runs scored and eight stolen bases, while Hathoot sits in the top five on the team in batting average (.353).
In the circle, sophomore righty Katie Kutz has been a revelation after starting the year as the least experienced pitcher on the staff. The Feb. 18 Big 12 Pitcher of the Week leads the team with a 4-1 record and a 1.82 ERA, and junior Washington transfer Ruby Meylan has contributed with a 1-0 record and a save in six appearances, totaling 29 strikeouts through 24.0 IP.
