Cowgirl Softball run rules SIU-Edwardsville

CONWAY, Ark. – Home runs from Megan Bloodworth and Micaela Wark and a Ruby Meylan shutout helped No. 13 Oklahoma State Softball to its 10-0 run rule victory over SIU Edwardsville on Sunday at Shock Stadium.
The Cowgirls improved to 6-4 overall with the win. The Cougars drop to 5-6 on the season.
Bloodworth opened the scoring in the second inning with her first home run of the season. Tallen Edwards then pushed the lead to two with an RBI single to score Tia Warsop.
The Cowgirls laid on seven more runs in the third inning to push the game into run rule territory. Micaela Wark and Rachael Hathoot both hit RBI singles. Bloodworth then hit a sacrifice fly to score Wark, and Warsop bunted for an RBI. Rosie Davis hit a bases-clearing double to score three Cowgirls and bring the score to 9-0.
Wark added another run to the board in the fourth inning with a solo homer.
Meylan improved to 2-0 with the win, pitching for five innings with 10 strikeouts and only one hit allowed. McKayla Anderson took the loss for SIU Edwardsville and dropped to 1-2.
Offensive standouts for Oklahoma State included Wark (2-for-3 with a home run and a RBI), Bloodworth (1-for-1 with a home run and two RBIs) and Davis (2-for-3 with three RBIs.)
Karli Godwin singled in the third to extend her streak of on-base games to 17, which is the longest active streak in the country.
The Cowgirls return to action at 5:30 p.m. today against South Dakota State. The game can be heard on the Varsity Network app.
