STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team won its third game in four days, notching a 105-35 win over Langston on Thursday evening in front of 2,402 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls, who improved to 3-0 on the year, cracked the 100-point mark for the second time in three games on the year and got a record-breaking performance from Lena Girardi, who set the program's single-game mark for 3-pointers with nine.
The Cowgirls opened the contest on an 26-0 run, hitting their first five shots from the field. OSU would get 3-pointers from four different players in the game's first three minutes. The Cowgirls would keep Langston off the board until the 2:33 mark of the first quarter.
OSU would lead, 35-4, through the first 10 minutes.
The second stanza saw the Cowgirls score 13 of the first 15 points in the frame to extend the margin to 48-6 halfway through the period.Â
OSU would take a 60-13 lead at the break behind a 21-point outburst from Girardi, who hit seven of her 10 3-point attempts in the half. The Cowgirls held the Lady Lions to a 3-for-21 (14 percent) shooting clip in the half.
The Cowgirls opened with the first eight points of the third quarter and extended to a 16-2 run, pushing the advantage to 76-15 with five minutes to go in the period.
Girardi would finish with 29 points on a 9-of-16 effort from beyond the arc.Â
She was joined in double figures by Amari Whiting and Micah Gray, who each scored 15 points apiece, while Haleigh Timmer added 13 and Jadyn Wooten added 10 points and seven assists.
