Cowgirl Catalyst: Girardi Explodes for Freshman Three-Point Record
November 06, 2025 | Cowgirl Basketball
STILLWATER – Lena Girardi hit nine threes, the freshman record for a Cowgirl, to blow past Langston on Thursday night.
Girardi finished the night with a game-high 29 points, just six points less than Langston's total, on 56.3% shooting from the floor. The work she's put in since she got to Stillwater is starting to translate.
"Yeah, we just wanted to get the win and clean up from yesterday," Girardi said. "It's obviously a really good feeling to see my hard work pay off, but we're just trying to get better game by game and get ready to go win a title."
Her hot night began early, netting a whopping 21 points in the first half, nailing seven threes on 10 shots. The outburst was contagious, leading to the second game in four days where the Cowgirls eclipsed the century-mark. That accounted for Girardi's staggering +/- of +45.
It wasn't just her shooting that helped the Cowgirls. The New York native dished out two assists and cleaned up the glass with four rebounds. She even made herself known on the defensive end, earning a block less than five minutes into the game.
Girardi has been feeling the love ever since she got to OSU this Summer and began her Cowgirl journey.
"Oh, man it means the world," Girardi said. "We have the best fans in the world, best coaching staff, best players. I'm having a blast, truly a dream come true, honestly."
Girardi and the rest of the Cowgirls will return Sunday evening at 5 p.m. CT for a matchup against in-state foe Oral Roberts.
