STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team moved to 4-0 on the year with a 112-62 win over Oral Roberts in front of 7,501 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena on Sunday evening.
The Cowgirls reached the century mark in the scoring column for the third time in four games on their way to their 12th consecutive victory over the Golden Eagles.
The Cowgirls got out of the gate quickly, hitting four of their first five shots from the floor, including a pair of corner treys from Micah Gray to grab a 10-2 lead with 7:40 on the clock.
OSU would hit its last eight shots of the quarter, finishing on a 12-2 run to lead, 37-8. The Cowgirls' offensive output broke the program record for points in a quarter of 36 set last season against Alabama State.Â
As a team, OSU hit 15 of its 19 shots (79 percent) from the floor.
In the second, the Cowgirls continued their efficiency at the offensive end, hitting 11 of their 18 (61 percent) shots from the floor. OSU connected on five of their final seven attempts to take a 64-28 lead at the break.
The Cowgirls had four players score in double figures in the half. Achol Akot poured in 16, Amari Whiting and Micah Gray each had 11 points and Stailee Heard finished the half with 10.
Offensively, the Cowgirls cooled out of the locker room, missing 10 of their first 13 shots before Lena Girardi drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to push the margin to 78-36 with 4:20 to go in the quarter.
Akot finished with her first double-double as a Cowgirl, scoring a career-high 23 points to go with 10 rebounds. She was one of seven Cowgirls to finish in double figures.
Wooten finished with 14 points and a career-high nine assists.
