November 14, 2025 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country dominated the NCAA Midwest Regional at Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course Friday morning, with both teams sweeping the individual and team titles.
This is the third straight season the Cowboys and Cowgirls have swept the regional titles, becoming the first team in Midwest Region history to accomplish the feat.
Two-time cross country All-American Denis Kipngetich defended his Midwest Region title for the second consecutive year in the men's 10K with his time of 29:42.8, becoming the first Cowboy in program history to win three straight regional championships. Kipngetich led for much of the race before outkicking a pair of Iowa State runners to once again claim the individual title.
Behind Kipngetich, Laban Kipkemboi and Fouad Messaoudi were next to cross the line for the Cowboys with their sixth and seventh-place finishes, respectively. Junior Adisu Guadie took ninth, while Brian Musau finished out the Cowboys' scoring with a in 17th-place finish. The meet truly heated up for the Cowboys following the 5K split, which saw four Cowboys scorers move into positions in the top 10. The OSU men scored 38 points overall to once again defeat the second-ranked Iowa State Cyclones by three points on the day.
On the women's side, Isca Chelangat largely led wire-to-wire and took home the crown after a powerful finish in the last 3,000 meters of the race with a time of 19:48.4. Maureen Rutoh was just a step behind, finishing second for the Cowgirls. Billah Jepkirui was the third Cowgirl in the top 10 with a seventh-place finish, while Victoria Lagat and Gentry Turner came in 11th and 34th, respectively, to round out the scoring.
As a team, the Cowgirls claimed their fourth consecutive regional title, just the second team to do so in the Midwest Region. The OSU women earned a total of 55 points for a 31-point victory over No. 11 Northwestern and a 53-point victory over No. 6 Iowa State.
Both teams will advance to the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships next weekend in Columbia, Mo., where they will each look to claim their first team trophies since 2023. The Cowboys will also be looking for the program's sixth NCAA title as the Cowgirls chase their first.
