Top-ranked OSU men’s cross country prepares for NCAA Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country hits the road for the final time this season for the NCAA Cross Country Championships Saturday morning at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.
The Cowboys are undefeated on the season and enter the NCAA Championships No. 1 in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll for the first time since 2012, when the Cowboys secured their third title in four years.
Individually, Brian Musau and Denis Kipngetich each secured their third straight titles at the Big 12 Championships and NCAA Midwest Regional, respectively. As a team, the OSU men defeated No. 1 Iowa State at the conference meet then repeated the feat at the regional meet this past weekend in Stillwater.
Entering the national championships, Kipngetich, Musau, Adisu Guadie, Fouad Messaoudi, Ryan Schoppe and Laban Kipkemboi are ranked No. 3, No. 5, No. 15, No. 26, No. 33 and No. 48, respectively, according to FloTrack.
The Cowgirls enter NCAAs fresh off their fourth straight regional title and have risen to No. 8 overall in the USTFCCCA rankings. They will be looking to return to the podium for the first time since placing fourth and third in 2022 and 2023.
Individually, freshman Isca Chelangat has a pair of individual victories on the year at the Cowboy Jamboree and NCAA Midwest Regional and enters the meet ranked No. 22. Fellow freshman teammate Maureen Rutoh is ranked No. 26 after placing second at the regional meet behind Chelangat.
The women's 6K kicks off action from Missouri at 9:20 a.m. CT, with the men's 10K immediately following at 10:10 a.m. The awards ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the men's race at 11:00 a.m.
