OSU Indoor Track & Field Returns to Indoor Circuit with Split-Meet Trips to Arkansas and Oklahoma
January 16, 2025 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma state men's and women's indoor track & field returns to action on the oval Friday as most of the team heads to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Arkansas Invitational, with the throws group heading to Norman, Okla., for the Owen Hewett Invitational.
Friday's meets mark the first time during the 2024-25 indoor season that every event group will be in action. The Cowboys and Cowgirls are coming off a 2023-24 season in which both teams placed in the top 10 at the NCAA meet for the first time in program history. The Cowboys finished tied for seventh with the men's Distance Medley Relay defending their NCAA title. The Cowgirls were eighth overall with Billah Jepkirui (Mile) and Taylor Roe (5,000 Meters) each earning runner-up finishes at the national meet.
While often serving as the season-opening meet, the Arkansas Invitational has consistently yielded record-breaking marks across the board for the Cowboys and Cowgirls. At last year's meet, four school records fell in the women's 600 Meters, High Jump and Triple Jump. The men's 600 Meter record also fell.
Multiple records have already fallen this season as Laban Kipkemboi and Brian Musau took down the program bests in the men's Mile and 5,000 Meters, respectively, at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston last month.
With the rest of the team in Arkansas, the throwers will open their season in Norman. On the men's side, seniors Sam Mason and Zac Robbins will be competing in the Weight Throw, with the pair currently sitting second and third in program history in the event. For the Cowgirls, Emma Robbins is slated to make her debut after transferring in from Kansas State, where she was fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the Hammer Throw. Johnna Orange and Rachel Neaves are also set to compete, each having top-10 marks in program history entering this season.
The Arkansas Invitational will be streamed live on SEC Network + starting at 2 p.m. CT. Live results for tomorrow's meets can be found below.
