Up next, the Cowgirls travel west for a road test at San Diego State on Saturday.    • OSU is coming off a 12-8-0 season in 2023 in which the Cowgirls finished seventh in the Big 12 standings with a 5-5-0 conference mark.
    • The Cowgirls return nine starters and 16 letterwinners from last season.
    • The 2024 season is the 29th in program history; over the first 28, OSU posted a 334-185-63 (.628) record. Head coach Colin Carmichael enters his 20th season at the helm in 2024 with a 251-105-50 mark.
Â
Scouting The Opponent
    • San Diego State is 1-1-1 on the season. The Aztecs opened the season with a win at Cal State Bakersfield before tying Weber State at home. In their last match, they dropped a 3-1 contest on their home field to No. 2 Stanford.    • Saturday's match will mark the first-ever meeting between OSU and SDSU on the soccer pitch.
Â
Last Week
Oklahoma State continued its dominance of Bedlam rival Oklahoma with a 1-0 win over the Sooners in Stillwater as the Cowgirls improved to 32-10-5 in the all-time series.    Bella Pierotti scored her first collegiate goal in the 39th minute, and Grace Gordon recorded a pair of saves for the shutout.
On Sunday, OSU got three second-half goals and cruised to a 4-0 win at Central Arkansas. Nicole Ray netted two goals, while Mollie Breiner and Alex Morris also scored. Gordon and Logan Marks combined for the shutout.
Â
Trending Up
OSU moved up in the national rankings this week; the Cowgirls are No. 11 in the United Soccer Coaches and are 14th in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll. It marks the highest OSU has been ranked since it was No. 11 in both polls on Nov. 17, 2020.    OSU entered the national rankings last week (Aug. 19/20) for the first time since Aug. 30, 2021, when the Cowgirls were 22nd in the TDS poll.
In this week's United Soccer Coaches Midwest Region Rankings, OSU is No. 1.
Â
Clean Sheets
For the first time in program history, OSU has opened the season with four consecutive shutouts. Their previous best streak to begin a season was three games in 2005.    Grace Gordon's three shutouts rank second nationally this season.
Â
Start Streaking
OSU is off to a 4-0-0 start for the first time since 2017. The last time the Cowgirls started a season 5-0-0 was 2012.    The 2011 Cowgirls opened the season with a program record 15 consecutive wins.
Â
Top 10 Statement
With it's 2-0 win at No. 6 Nebraska in the season opener, OSU recorded its first victory over a top-10 opponent since beating No. 4 West Virginia, 2-1, in double overtime in Stillwater in 2020.    The victory also marked the Cowgirls' first top-10 road win since a 2-1 double overtime triumph at No. 6 Penn State in 2019.
Â
Perfect
OSU is one of 32 unbeaten and untied teams in NCAA Women's Division I soccer.Â
Sharing the Wealth
OSU's eight goals this season have been scored by seven different players. Only Nicole Ray has multiple goals for the Cowgirls.    Seven Cowgirls have also recorded assists on the year, with Laudan Wilson's two leading the way.
   Â
Veteran Presence
The 2024 Cowgirls are an experienced group, with nine starters and 16 letterwinners returning.    Both Mollie Breiner and Alex Morris are in their fifth year of competition with OSU and have each played in nearly 70 career games for the Cowgirls.
Graduate transfer Grace Gordon is in her second year in Stillwater following three seasons at Seton Hall, while fellow grad transfers Kate Dreyer (Kansas) and Makenzie Graham (Virginia Tech) will also play their fifth and final collegiate seasons with the Cowgirls.
Another transfer, Jaidy Gutierrez Campos, played her first three seasons at South Alabama and started 50 games in goal.
Â
Back On the Attack
OSU returns 76 percent of its scoring from last season as nine players that combined for 28 of the Cowgirls' 37 goals are back. Logan Heausler (7) and Pineda (6) are OSU's top returning goal scorers.    That's a stark contrast to a year ago when OSU entered the season with only three active players who had scored a goal in their careers (Xcaret Pineda, Mollie Breiner and Chloe Wright), and that trio had combined for just four goals prior to the season.
Â
Mavens Of The Midfield
OSU midfielders Xcaret Pineda and Laudan Wilson were named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. The Cowgirls' duo makes up two of the 24-player team selected by the conference's head coaches.Â
