CARLSBAD, Calif. – Oklahoma State women's golf senior Angelica Pfefferkorn has received the NCAA Elite 90 Award leading up to the 2024 NCAA DI Women's Golf Championships, it was announced today.
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
Pfefferkorn, who graduated with a degree in nutritional science pre-med this month, received the honor to begin the Cowgirls' practice round on Thursday after posting a 4.0 GPA in each semester as an undergraduate. She has become the first Cowgirl golfer to win the prestigious accolade.
A native of Carmel, Indiana, Pfefferkorn has starred in the classroom and on the course this season. After starting her career as a walk-on and competing in eight tournaments (one start) in her first three years, she has started in 10 events this season and is slated to make her 11th this week at the NCAA Championships.
With her double-digit appearances, she has become the first Cowgirl in program history to compete in more tournaments as a senior than her first three seasons combined.
