Hinson-Tolchard Concludes Opening Round of Augusta National Women’s Amateur

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Maddison Hinson-Tolchard made her Augusta National Women's Amateur debut Wednesday at Champions Retreat Golf Club, carding a 2-over 74 to slot tied for 44th heading into the second round.
Competing in a 72-player field, Hinson-Tolchard enters tomorrow as one of eight golfers 2-over par and sits two shots back from the top 30. After tomorrow's round, an end-of-day cut will advance the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club.
Hannah Darling (Scotland) leads the field at 6-under 66, while Francesca Fiorellini (Italy), Ingrid Lindblad (Sweden) and Eila Galitsky (Thailand), who was part of Hinson-Tolchard's grouping, carded 5-under 67 rounds.
Following a one-hour weather delay, Hinson-Tolchard started her morning with a birdie on Champion Retreat's par-4, 385-yard opening hole. After bogeying on hole No. 2, steady play became the catalyst as she posted 14 pars and a mere two bogeys to round out play.
Hinson-Tolchard will tee off at Champions Retreat Golf Club tomorrow at 8:55 a.m. CT. She returns to the par-72, 6,360-yard layout with the same grouping of Galitsky and Jensen Castle (United States), who also sits at 2-over.
