Hinson-Tolchard Set To Compete in Augusta National Women's Amateur

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Maddison Hinson-Tolchard is set to compete at the fifth edition of the Augusta National Women's Amateur on Wednesday at Champions Retreat Golf Club. Playing in an elite field of 72 women's amateurs, action will be held at Champions Retreat Golf Club and Augusta National Golf Club from Wednesday through Saturday (April 3-6).
"It's a dream come true, really," Hinson-Tolchard said. "I've been wanting to play this tournament for the last three years, and I've been working hard to put myself in a position where I was able to get the invitation. Now, that's become a reality, so I'm really looking forward to it."
Making her ANWA debut, Hinson-Tolchard enters Augusta ranked 28th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, while also being the field's sole representative of her home country of Australia.
Hinson-Tolchard will be part of Wednesday's third of 24 groupings, teeing off at 7:12 a.m. CT alongside Eila Galitsky (Thailand) and Jensen Castle (United States).
A native of Perth, Australia, Hinson-Tolchard has reached for the record books this spring. Building upon a resume that includes back-to-back Big 12 Player of the Year honors (2022, 2023), First-Team WGCA All-American status (2023) and Big 12 Individual Champion honors (2023), the senior has notched the program's most par-or-better rounds (67) while moving to third all-time in career birdies (359) to open April.
The 72-player field will compete over 54 holes of stroke play this week. After playing 36 holes on the Island and Buff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club across Wednesday and Thursday, a cut will take place, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club.
The entire field will then play Augusta National Golf Club for an official practice round on Friday, and then the final round will follow at Augusta National on Saturday. In the event of a tie after 54 holes, the winner will be decided by a sudden-death playoff.
The first and second rounds of the Augusta National Women's Amateur will be broadcast live on Golf Channel from 12:30-2:30 p.m. CT from Champions Retreat Golf Club. NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. CT.
