Cowboy Tennis Adds Four Newcomers

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State's men's tennis team signed four newcomers who are set to compete for the team this spring it was announced today.
The incoming Cowboys include Nicolas Kobelt from Olten, Switzerland, Matei Onofrei from Iasi, Romania, Finn Hopfe of Neukirchen-Vluyn, Germany and Ben Stecker of Cologne, Germany.
Kobelt, a transfer from Tennessee, has career highs on the ATP Tour of 810 and a No. 106 ITF Junior ranking. The sophomore went 2-4 in singles and 2-1 in doubles this past season with the Volunteers.
Onofrei enters his first collegiate season with a Juniors G4 Singles and Doubles Championship, Vice Champion of Romania title, received a career-high ATP ranking of 886, and has a WTN ranking of 9.7.
Hopfe holsters wins over multiple ranked ATP players and has a WTN of 13.7.
Stecker holds an under-16s Regional Championship in Nordhein-Westphalia, was a finalist in the German Doubles Championships under-18s and a four-time Junior Regional Singles Champion in Middlerhein.
Oklahoma State opens its spring slate on January 11 with a doubleheader against UTRGV at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
