OSU Claims Three Top-100 Golfers in Latest Ranking
November 01, 2024 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's golf team stood at No. 21 in the latest NCAA women's golf rankings, which were released earlier this week.
The new rankings system is compiled through Scoreboard by Clippd. The rankings are powered by a points system that considers the difficulty of course, the field depth and numerous other important notes.
The Pokes claim three of the top 100 golfers in Division I in Grace Kilcrease (No. 12), Thitaporn Saithip (No. 79) and Ellie Bushnell (No. 99). OSU, along with Arizona and Arizona State, is one of three teams in the Big 12 to have three or more golfers ranked in the top 100.
Kilcrease stayed at the No. 12 spot after winning the Carmel Cup and breaking the school record for low round with a 63 at the Schooner Fall Classic. In addition, the junior transfer from Tulsa has placed top 10 in all five tournaments this season, the first Cowgirl to secure five straight top-10's since Isabella Fierro in the 2020-21 season.
Saithip was the biggest riser for the Cowgirls in the new rankings. Saithip improved by a staggering 50 spots, rising from No. 129 to No. 79. This placement is due to her performance at the Charles Schwab Collegiate, where Saithip claimed the best placement of her career, finishing in a tie for fourth. This coming after her fifth place finish at the Dale McNamara Invitational two weeks prior.
In addition to the Cowgirls top-25 placement, sophomore Bushnell came in as another top 100 golfer for the Pokes. She moved to the 99th-ranked golfer in the nation after a career-tying-low round of 67 in round two of the Dale McNamara Invitational.
The 21st-ranked Cowgirls have claimed a runner-up title at the Dale McNamara Invitational and have placed well in stacked fields. This includes a tie for fourth at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup and a recent fifth place finish at the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. The team slots in as the third highest ranked Big 12 school, sitting behind newcomers, No. 8 and No. 9 Arizona and Arizona State, respectively.
