Cowboy Tennis Falls to No. 4 Texas on Final Day of ITA Kickoff Weekend

AUSTIN, Texas – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team fell to No. 4 Texas, 1-4, on the final day of ITA Kickoff Weekend at the Texas Tennis Center.
The loss marks the first of the season for the Pokes, moving them to 4-1. Texas improved to 4-1.Â
Starting the day with doubles, Texas took an early lead when Micah Braswell and Giles-Arnaud Bailly defeated Leighton Allen and Erik Schiessl, 6-0, on court three. On court two, Pierre-Yves Bailly and Siem Woldeab beat Isaac Becroft and Alessio Basile, 6-1, for the doubles point.Â
Tyler Zink and Alex Garcia's match on court one went unfinished, 3-4.Â
In singles action, the Longhorns added to their lead when No. 1 Eliot Spizzirri defeated No. 18 Zink, 6-1, 6-1. Court four was the next to finish, with UT's No. 49 P. Bailly besting Basile, 6-2, 6-4.Â
OSU's freshman Schiessl put the Cowboys on the board when he beat No. 82 Cleeve Harper, 7-5, 6-2. The win marks Schiessl's first victory over a ranked opponent.Â
No. 2 Micah Braswell dropped No. 48 Alex Garcia in a second-set breaker, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) to clinch the match for the Longhorns.Â
The Cowboys return to action Tuesday at 5 p.m. against UCLA at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
