February 11, 2023 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Another program record fell Saturday as Oklahoma State track & field wrapped up day two of its multi-meet week in Seattle and Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday.
At the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Hafez Mahadi became the third runner this weekend to break a program record, breaking Juan Diego Castro's 800 Meter mark with a time of 1:48.25 Saturday. Castro set his record in 2021 at the Texas Tech Shootout.
Mehdi Yanouri also had a successful day in the 800 Meters, jumping into fifth place all-time in the same race with a time of 1:48.63.
In the men's 4x400 Meter Relay, EJ Berry, DJ McArthur, Cash Merutka and Charlie Bartholomew charged into second place in OSU history with their time of 3:08.64. The team made its debut in the Razorback Invitational in January and improved its time by over a second.
On the women's side, Tori Ortiz, Tamara Woodley, Kalaya Ali and Ansley Scott teamed up to put forth a 3:39.19 time, the fifth best time in OSU history. Woodley and Ali now appear in half of the top 10 best times in OSU history. Ortiz appears in three while Scott is in two.
In Seattle for the second day of the Husky Classic, Sivan Auerbach's personal-best Mile time of 4:39.77 moves her into the top 10 in program history. Alex Stitt also put together a sub four-minute Mile for the first time in his career.
They capped off a successful weekend in Washington, which saw Fouad Messaoudi and Ryan Schoppe break OSU's team record in the 3,000 Meters by nearly three seconds. Messaoudi and Schoppe now rank third and fifth, respectively, in the NCAA in the 3,000 Meters.
Taylor Roe also had a big day on Friday, as she broke her own school record in the 3K. Billah Jepkirui set a personal record in the 3K race and finds herself third all-time at OSU.
Alex Maier made an appearance at New York's prestigious Millrose Games, where he put forth a 7:43.05 time in the 3,000 Meters, a new personal best. Maier's time was the third occasion this weekend alone that the previous 3K men's school record was broken. Maier now ranks third in program history, behind Messaoudi and Schoppe.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will now prepare to go back to Arkansas next weekend for the Arkansas qualifier on Friday, Feb. 17.
