Cowgirl Softball's Callaham Becomes OSU Athletics' First Two-Time Elite 90 Award Recipient
May 31, 2022 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball's Jules Callaham received the Elite 90 award for the 2022 NCAA Division I Softball Championship.
Callaham is the first two-time winner of the Elite 90 in OSU history – having also won the award in 2021 – and is also the first NCAA softball two-time winner. She is the 46th back-to-back winner – and the 22nd female – of the Elite 90 award.
Athletically classified as a junior, Callaham has totaled 96 institutional credits since her arrival at OSU in 2020, which classifies her as a senior academically. The Broken Bow, Oklahoma, native has maintained a 4.0 GPA as she pursues a degree in animal science pre-veterinary medicine. In February, she was accepted into Oklahoma State's College of Veterinary Medicine.
Callaham's honor marks the seventh time an Oklahoma State student-athlete has won the award and the third time an Oklahoma State softball student-athlete has claimed the honor in its 13-year history, tying OSU with LSU for the most softball recipients.
It also marks the first time OSU has had two Elite 90 winners in the same academic year; Callaham joins OSU cross country and track & field's Ryan Schoppe as 2022 recipients.
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-
athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
The honor is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point
average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
