OSU Outdoor Track & Field Breaks Two School Records in Baylor Invitational
April 03, 2022 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
WACO, Texas – Oklahoma State outdoor track & field competed in its second meet of the weekend on Saturday in the Baylor Invitational in Waco, Texas.
Bailey Golden opened her 2022 outdoor campaign in the long jump, with an impressive 6.20 meter jump that broke the previous school record set back in 2000 by Melinda Jackson.
"Bailey had a great series of jumps today," Throws, Multis and Vaults Coach Josh Langley said. "We knew this was possible last year when she jumped a wind aided 6.15 meters. But to get a great mark next to her name that was legal, it should propel her forward to bigger marks in the future. She's got her name all over the OSU All Time list in so many events, it helps to cement her as one of the best all-around athletes in our history."
The women's 4x400 Meter squad of Christina Ollison, Nickie Dixon, Kalaya Ali and Tamara Woodley continued the record-setting trend on Saturday, setting a new program record with their time of 3:33.16. Ali and Ollison were also on the squad last season that set the previous record at the 2021 NCAA West Prelims at Texas A&M.
Hannah Bradford competed in her second event of the weekend in the Discus Throw, setting a personal-best with her 49.16 meter throw on her way to her first event victory of the season. Bradford led from wire-to-wire, with her longest throw coming on her sixth and final attempt to seal the victory.
"Hannah had a rough warm up and did a fantastic job of letting go of that and refocusing for the competition," Langley said. "I think that was the most consistent series she's had, which is a great indication something bigger is coming."
In the women's 1,500 Meter run, Amelia Jauregui, Molly Humes and Emily Forster swept the podium, taking each of the top three spots with times of 4:48.55, 4:49.20 and 4:49.22, respectively. All three finished with new personal bests in the event on their way to the sweep.
On the men's side, Michael Releford opened up his outdoor season with a second-place finish in the Shot Put with a throw of 17.75 meters. Releford held the second position for the entire series, steadily improving until his best throw on his fifth attempt overall.
Charlie Bartholomew and DJ McArthur each set new personal bests in the 400 Meter dash, with Bartholomew coming across in 46.72 seconds and McArthur finishing in 47.36.
EJ Berry competed in his second meet of the season, competing in the 800 Meter run for the first time this outdoor season. He placed third overall in the event with a personal-best time of 1:53.52, less than a second off the first-place time.
