April 07, 2022 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State outdoor track & field travels Tucson, Ariz., Oxford, Miss. and Fayetteville, Ark. to compete in three separate meets this weekend.
National Champion Taylor Roe returns to the track at the Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford for the first time since winning her first national championship in the indoor 3,000 Meters last month. Roe will be competing in both the 1,500 and 800 Meters on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
She is coming off a historic indoor season in which she won three Big 12 championships in the DMR, Mile and 3,000 Meters before winning the national title in the 3K.
First-team All-Americans Fouad Messaoudi and Ryan Schoppe will run the 1,500-800 Meter double on the men's side with second-team All-American Gabija Galvydyte running the women's double alongside Sivan Auerbach, Lilly Lavier, Krystal Rodriguez and Colleen Stegmann.
Messaoudi and Schoppe ran the opening and anchor legs in the Cowboy DMR squad that earned a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships last month. Galvydyte also ran at indoor nationals and picked up her first career All-America honor after placing second at the Big 12 Championships in February.
In the Jim Click Invitational in Tucson, Bailey Golden, Olivija Vaitaityte and Jayden Fiebiger will compete in their first full Heptathlon of the season after competing in several individual events since the start of the outdoor season. Golden currently holds the school record in the Heptathlon with a score of 5,513 points set during the 2021 Outdoor Big 12 Championships.
Max Braht will also open his Decathlon season at the Jim Click Invitational after competing individually at the Texas Relays earlier this outdoor season. Braht is currently second on OSU's all-time Decathlon list after scoring 6,742 points at the Sooner Invitational last season.
At the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, several OSU jumpers will make their second appearance of the 2022 season on Friday. Allison Bliss, Sara Byers, Sanye Ford, Sydney Ritter and Ryan Roane will all compete in the Long Jump and Triple Jump after each competed in the Long Jump at the ORU Invitational earlier this month.
