April 21, 2022 | Cowgirl Golf
HOCKLEY, Texas – No. 6 Oklahoma State women's golf is set to compete for its 11th Big 12 Championship this weekend at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas. Play will open Friday at 8 a.m. with OSU, No. 14 Texas and No. 16 Baylor leading the way for the field.
Â
The second pairing, featuring No. 22 Texas Tech, TCU and Iowa State, will take the course at 9:00 a.m. The final grouping, at 10:00 a.m., will feature Oklahoma, Kansas and Kansas State.
Â
This year marks the first time the Big 12 has held its Championship at the 6,356-yard, par-71 course. The 54-hole tournament will be played over three days with 18 holes of action each day.
Â
Second and third-day pairings will be determined by the previous day's results with golfers from the three teams at the top of the team standings going out last. An awards ceremony will be conducted following the conclusion of the final round on Sunday.
In addition to the team trophy for the team champion, the top-10 individual finishers at the Big 12 Championship will be recognized as the All-Tournament Team.
Â
Fans can follow all the action with live stats on Golfstat and updates on the team's social media accounts as they become available.
Â
The Oklahoma State lineup will feature No. 51 Han-Hsuan Yu, No. 30 Maddison Hinson-Tolchard, Hailey Jones, Rina Tatematsu and Lianna Bailey. The individual rankings, according to Golfstat, put two of the five OSU starters in the top-60 and three in the top-65 heading into postseason play.
Â
The Cowgirls closed out the regular season finishing in the top-3 in every tournament for the first time since the 1973-74 season, when they finished first and second in their two tournaments that year.
Â
Overall, OSU has earned 24 conference titles, including 10 Big 12 Championships – three more than any other league rival.
Â
The Cowgirls won the 2021 Big 12 Championship in record-breaking fashion with four members of the lineup in the top-10 and recording the lowest 18-hole, 36-hole and 54-hole scores in tournament history. OSU also swept Coach of the Year, Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors in 2021.
Â
Oklahoma State is one of just three schools (Texas and Texas A&M) to have won the tournament back-to-back years, having done so a league-best three times. OSU and the Longhorns have won every Big 12 title since 2016. Â
