Leighton Allen Goes Undefeated at OSU Invitational

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team wrapped up its fall opener at the OSU Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The Cowboys squared off in doubles play with Nebraska on Sunday morning. Leighton Allen and Francisco Pini wasted no time getting things started on court two, quickly stealing an 8-2 victory against Victor Moreno Lozano and Shunya Maruyama. The win rounded out an undefeated weekend in doubles action for the freshman-sophomore duo, who posted a 3-0Â mark.Â
On court three, Nic Pesoli and Sammr Raina came up short against Rudra Dixit and Roni Hietaranta, 8-3. Court one was the last to finish, where Luke Hammond and Maxim Verboven pushed their match against Calvin Mueller and William Gleason to a tiebreak, but came up short in the back-and-forth battle, 8-7.Â
In the afternoon session, OSU returned to the courts for singles play against Tulsa. Leighton Allen emerged victorious in straight sets on court two against Callum Gale, 6-1, 6-2. Making his first appearance as a Cowboy, Allen also went undefeated in singles play, winning all three of his matches.Â
Freshman Nic Pesoli also made his mark on the weekend, zipping to a 6-4, 6-3 win over Tulsa's Adham Gaber. Freshman Sammr Raina fell to Connor Di Marco, 6-0, 6-1. A fierce two-set battle between Francisco Pini and Daniel Santalla went the way of the Golden Hurricane, 7-6, 7-5.Â
Court one was the last to finish, where Luke Hammond pushed his match against Stefan Hampe to three sets. Hampe would ultimately come out on top, 7-6, 3-6, 7-6.Â
