Oklahoma City, Okla. — The Oklahoma State softball dropped to 42-9 on the season after an 8-2 loss to the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship title game.
Carrie Eberle got the start in the circle for the Cowgirls, pitching 4.2 innings in her third loss of the season.
Kelly Maxwell came on in relief, pitching one inning in her 24th appearance of the season.
The Cowgirls were led offensively by Kiley Naomi (1-for-3, RBI, HR) and Alysen Febrey (1-for-3, RBI, HR) who each launched homers in the fifth inning.
Chyenne Factor, Sydney Pennington, Michaela Richbourg and Karli Petty all had hits on the day.
The Sooners got out to an early lead, scoring three in the first inning, and tacking on runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Oklahoma State cut the lead to four in the fifth inning with the Naomi and Febrey homers before Oklahoma responded with two runs in the fifth and sixth innings to secure the run-rule victory.
The Cowgirls await their postseason future, which will be revealed tomorrow (May 16th) at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
