April 16, 2021 | Cowgirl Golf
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Oklahoma State women's golf team is in pursuit of their 10th Big 12 Championship this weekend at The Club at Carlton Woods.
The Cowgirls will be at full strength heading into the weekend and the lineup will feature Maja Stark, Isabella Fierro, Rina Tatematsu, Lianna Bailey, and Han-Hsuan Yu. All five members are ranked in the GolfStat top 100 and four members of the starting lineup have won individual collegiate titles.
Oklahoma State will carry the momentum of three consecutive event titles heading into the Big 12 Championship. In fact, OSU has won four events this season and hasn't finished lower than third at any tournament this spring.
OSU has produced 23 conference titles, including nine Big 12 Championships - three more than any other league rival. The Cowgirls are looking to end Texas' streak of three consecutive Big 12 titles.
Six Big 12 teams are ranked in the top 38 by Golfweek/Sagarin including No. 7 Baylor, No. 8 Oklahoma State and No. 16 Texas. Those three teams will lead off the Championship, teeing off at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
In 2005, the 18-hole Fazio course debuted in the Carlton Woods Creekside community resting atop 7,358 yards of rolling hillsides on the bluffs of Spring Creek. Following completion, Golf Digest named it the "Best New Private Course in Texas," and "No. 3 Best New Private Course in the U.S."
Spectators are permitted based on local/state guidelines, which are subject to change. It is requested that spectators wear masks at all times and follow physical distancing protocols, including remaining at least 15 yards away from student-athletes, coaches and other team personnel. Spectators must also keep distanced from tee boxes and greens. The event is free of charge.
