The Basics

The No. 1 Oklahoma State Equestrian team is set to compete in a doubleheader in Fresno, California, this weekend. The Cowgirls will take on No. 6 Fresno State Friday before competing in two disciplines against seventh-ranked SMU. On Saturday, OSU will conclude its meet against the Mustangs with the final two disciplines. The Cowgirls enter the weekend meets coming off three-straight wins, taking down previous No. 8 Baylor in Waco, Texas, then No. 1 Auburn and No. 6 TCU at home.Â

The Cowgirls are led by 23rd-year head coach Larry Sanchez, third-year assistants Laura Brainard and Olivia Dorey, and graduate assistant Kaylyn Cole.

"We are looking forward to travel to Fresno for our two final competitions of the fall semester," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "Both Fresno State and SMU are highly ranked teams, and we need to ride as we have all semester to secure the wins on the road. Our team has been working hard and are ready to compete again."

-Vs. Auburn: Roberson (Horsemanship), King (Flat), Clark (Reining)

-Vs. TCU: Roberson (Horsemanship), King (Flat), Mitchell (Reining)

-Molly Mitchell: Mitchell is off to an undefeated start on the season after an opening meet against Baylor where she won 70.5-0 in Reining. She didn't slow down at home as she secured another win against Auburn, 73.5-72.5, and earned MOP honors vs. TCU.

-Team captain Abigail Brayman is 1-1-1 in Fences after winning her ride, 87-74, against TCU. She is now 3-0 in Flat after an 87-74 victory against TCU.

-Sydnie Ziegler began her senior campaign going 2-1 in both Flat and Fences. Against Baylor she won her ride, 86-74, in Fences and earned a 79-67.5 victory in Flat two weeks ago.

-Against TCU, Jojo Roberson won her ride 80.5-77 in Horsemanship and earned her third consecutive MOP honor on the season. She also secured a Cowgirl point in Reining when she narrowly defeated her opponent, 70-69.

-All-American Emma Pacyna started the season 1-2 after earning MOP honors in Fences against Baylor when she bested her opponent 88-82. Pacyna suffered a loss against Auburn and TCU but looks to get back on track this Friday.

-Team captain Katie Pelzel looks to have another solid season after three-straight wins in Flat. Against the Frogs, she beat her opponent, 87-75.5, to help cement the Cowgirls' win.
