Cowboy Tennis Wins The Silverado Invitational

NAPA, Calif. – The Oklahoma State Cowboys were crowned the champions of the Silverado Invitational on Sunday after losing just one singles match on the final day of competition.
The Cowboys accumulated the most points of the tournament over the weekend by winning 14 of a possible 17 matches between singles and doubles play. The other schools competing in the invitational were Buffalo, Hawaii, Pacific, San Diego State, San Francisco and Tulsa.
The final day of competition included four singles matches and two doubles matches. Luke Hammond started the day with a win over Akram El Sallaly over of Pacific, 6-5, 7-5. Mathieu Scaglia defeated Nathan Hampton in a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Emile Hudd continued the winning way with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Coby McCaig. The only Cowboy loss came via Brady Draheim to John Horoz Garner, 6-0, 6-4.
In doubles play, Mathieu Scaglia and Emile Hudd defeated the San Francisco pairing of Phuc Huynh and Johan Garpered, 8-5. The other Cowboy duo of Luke Hammond and Brady Draheim beat Mitch Johnson and David Woodland in an 8-4 victory.
The Cowboys will continue the fall season at the Arkansas Futures event in Fayetteville, Ark. on Monday.
