Likekele Named To USA Basketball U19 World Cup Roster

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Oklahoma State guard Isaac Likekele was named to the 12-man roster for the 2019 USA Basketball U19 FIBA World Cup team, which makes him the 21st Cowboy to suit up for USA Basketball.
The 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup will take place June 29-July 7 in Heraklion, Greece. The top-ranked Americans will take on New Zealand (June 29), Lithuania (June 30) and Senegal (July 2) before the knockout phase begins on July 3.

Likekele is the fourth Cowboy to represent USA Basketball at the FIBA U19 World Cup, joining Matt Clark (1979), Marcus Smart (2013) and Jawun Evans (2015). All three of those former Cowboys won gold medals.
Likekele is now the 21st Cowboy to suit up for USA Basketball, which doesn't include six former coaches and two athletic trainers. Oklahoma State representatives have combined for 22 gold medals in international competitions for USA Basketball.
The FIBA U19 World Cup is currently played every two years, and USA Basketball is seeking its seventh title after a third-place finish in 2017.
The USA U19 squad is being led by head coach Bruce Weber (Kansas State), and assistant coaches Mike Hopkins (Washington) and LeVelle Moton (North Carolina Central). The USA Basketball Junior National Team Committee also consists of chairman Matt Painter (Purdue), Shane Battier (Athlete Representative), Tony Bennett (Virginia), Ed Cooley (Providence) and Sean Miller (Arizona).
