Cowboy Basketball adds Saint Mary's to 2026-27 schedule

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State will host Saint Mary's on Saturday, Dec. 5, as part of its 2026-27 men's basketball schedule.
The complete 14-game nonconference slate will be announced in the near future.
The matchup marks the first meeting between the programs in 30 years and the third all-time, with both previous contests also played in Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU won each of those games by a single point, in 1946 and 1996.
The Cowboys edged the Gaels 71–70 in the 1996-97 season opener on Jason Skaer's three-pointer with 0.2 seconds remaining. Their first meeting came on Dec. 23, 1946, when Bob Rogers scored the go-ahead basket with 43 seconds left to give Henry Iba's two-time defending national champions a 34–33 win.
The 2026-27 season will be Saint Mary's first under head coach Mickey McConnell, a former Gaels player and assistant coach who succeeds Randy Bennett following his move to Arizona State. Saint Mary's has appeared in each of the past five NCAA Tournaments and reached the Round of 32 three times during that stretch.
Oklahoma State is coming off a 20-win season and a second-round NIT appearance. The Cowboys enter year three under head coach Steve Lutz with the Big 12's top transfer portal haul, according to On3, and a consensus top-10 high school signing class.
