May 07, 2019 | Cowgirl Golf
NORMAN, Okla. – Second-round 68s from Oklahoma State's Lianna Bailey and Han-Hsuan Yu helped the Cowgirl duo vault up the NCAA Norman Regional leaderboard and into the mix for a trip to the NCAA Championship.
Bailey and Yu both went 4-under on Tuesday, which tied for the second best score of the day at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. The two Cowgirls combined for seven birdies, an eagle and just a single bogey.
Bailey posted her first bogey-free round as a Cowgirl and is tied for 14th on the individual leaderboard at 2-under 142. Yu was the regional's biggest mover of the day thanks to three birdies and an eagle on No. 8, and is now tied for 18th overall at 1-under 143.
The low six teams and the low three individuals not on those teams will advance to the 2019 NCAA Women's Golf National Championships at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas. With 18 holes to play, the third ranked individual not on a potential advancing team is at 4-under 140, which is just two strokes ahead of Bailey and three better than Yu.
Eight Cowgirls have combined to advance to 10 NCAA Championships as an individual, including Emma Broze in 2018, who went on to finish 12th at Karsten Creek.
Weather permitting, Yu and Bailey are scheduled to tee off Wednesday's final round at 8:20 a.m.
