Cowgirls Get Back Into Win Column Against Southern

STILLWATER, Okla. — Playing at home for the first time since Nov. 23, Oklahoma State's women's basketball team got back into the win column with a 72-59 win over Southern in front of 1,556 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena on Tuesday night.
The Cowgirls (7-3) spread the wealth early with four players scoring OSU's first 10 points of the game. OSU used an 11-0 run in the first to race out to a 25-12 lead.
However, Southern stayed hot throughout the contest from beyond the 3-point arc, hitting 11-of-20 3-pointers to stay within striking distance.
The Cowgirls took a 39-27 lead at the break.
OSU used a 7-0 run to start the third and led by as many as 26 in the fourth quarter before Southern began to chip away. The Jaguars outscored the Cowgirls 20-12 in the final frame.
Junior Vivian Gray led all scorers with 20 points, her 21st career 20-point outing.
Classmate Natasha Mack logged her eighth career double-double, finishing with 18 points and 15 boards while adding seven blocked shots.
As a team, OSU blocked 14 shots and held Southern to a 30 percent shooting effort.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Friday at 7 p.m. when they host Oral Roberts.
