November 22, 2019 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER – The fall Arnold Palmer Cup Rankings were released this week and Oklahoma State freshman Isabella Fierro was listed at No. 11 on the international women's ranking.
The top six golfers from the final ranking in the spring from both the United States and International men and women - 12 total golfers - shall be among the 24 individuals selected to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup at Lahinch Golf Club on July 3-5, 2020.
The remaining six men's and women's spots for the United States will consist of five committee selections, including at least one non-Division I golfer, and a coaches pick.
Using Golfstat's NCAA Player Ranking as a base, the Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking awards bonus points for wins and high finishes and a penalty for poor finishes. The ranking also contains a strength of schedule component.
Fierro, who was also named to the ANNIKA Award Watch List in October, posted a victory in the Betsy Rawls Invitational and owns a 70.42 stroke average through four events, which is the seventh best nationally and the best in school history.
She is currently listed by GolfStat as the seventh ranked freshman and the No. 14 overall player in the country.
The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and The Golf Coaches Association of America, and is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players.
The next Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking will be announced February 20.
