Cowboys Drop Road Dual to No. 10 Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Oklahoma State wrestling team moved to 1-1 on the season Saturday, losing on the road to No. 10 Lehigh, 21-20, on criteria.
The match came down to the third-level of criteria after the dual finished, 20-20, and both teams had the same number of matches won and same number of bonus-point wins. The deciding factor was total points scored in individual matches, as Lehigh outscored OSU, 57-47.
The Cowboys started in a hole with a disqualification at 133 pounds before dual action began at 141 pounds. Dusty Hone dropped a 3-2 decision to Lehigh's Ryan Pomrinca in the first bout before No. 5 Boo Lewallen evened the score with a 4-0 decision over Jimmy Hoffman in the next. Travis Wittlake got OSU's next win, picking up a decision for the Pokes at 165 pounds.
Anthony Montalvo grabbed OSU's only fall on the day, pinning Chris Weiler at the 6:26 mark. Dakota Geer, ranked fifth at 184 pounds, majored Lehigh's Jake Jakobsen in the following bout.
Heavyweight Austin Harris wrestled in a hard-fought 9-4 loss to third-ranked Jordan Wood before Nick Piccininni took an 11-3 major from 17th-ranked Brandon Paetzell in the final bout.
Wyatt Sheets faced No. 13 Josh Humphreys for the second time in the 2019 calendar year. After a sudden-victory thriller over the Mountain Hawk in February, Sheets lost a 16-2 major to the sophomore. Andrew Shomers dropped his bout to Jordan Kutler, 20-6. Kutler is the second-ranked wrestler in the nation at 174 pounds.
The Cowboys return to Stillwater the home opening dual against Minnesota on Sunday, Nov. 24.
