Cowboys Suffer First Loss of the Season, Fall to No. 22 TCU 4-0

FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 20 Oklahoma State suffered its first loss of the 2019 dual season Sunday afternoon, falling to No. 22 TCU, 4-0, in the championship match of the ITA Kick-Off at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The loss signals the first time in three seasons the Cowboys will not advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships.
TCU also eliminated the Pokes from National Indoor contention in 2016, when No. 3 TCU defeated No. 28 OSU, 4-3, in Fort Worth. The 2016 loss was the last time the Pokes did not earn the bid to the ITA National Indoor Championships.
TCU was dominant from the start, as the tandem of Bertus Kruger and Reese Stalder defeated Artur Dubinski and Brady Draheim, 6-3, while Luc Fomba and Sander Jong bested Luke Hammond and Mathieu Scaglia, 6-3. The Frogs claimed the doubles point and went up, 1-0, in the match.
In singles play, Stalder of TCU defeated Maxim Tybar, 6-3, 6-1, and No. 65 Kruger beat OSU's Drahiem, 6-2, 6-1, giving TCU a commanding 3-0 lead. No. 14 Alex Rybakov clinched the match for the Horned Frogs on court one, defeating Dubinski, 6-3, 6-1.
The match marks the first time the Cowboys have been swept since the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals last year against No. 27 Baylor, on April 27, 2018.
The Pokes are back in action Friday when they will take on Ole Miss at 5 p.m. inside the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center.
