Cowgirls Back Into The Win Column With 65-57 Win Over Texas Tech

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team was able to hold on and to defeat Texas Tech, 65-57, on Saturday afternoon, notching its second Big 12 victory in front of 2,018 fans in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Both teams started off the first quarter slowly. The Cowgirls (11-4, 2-2) got out to a 4-0 lead, but the Lady Raiders (10-5, 1-3) went on a 7-0 run. Thanks to a jumper from sophomore Braxtin Miller and a last second mid-range shot from fellow sophomore Vivian Gray, the Cowgirls took a 10-7 lead into the second quarter.

The two teams traded buckets in the beginning of the second quarter, but a 3-pointer on the right wing from freshman Ja'Mee Asberry sparked an 8-0 for the Cowgirls. The Cowgirls extended its lead to 28-19 entering halftime.

The Lady Raiders went on 6-0 in the third quarter, but was quickly halted by a 3-pointer by Miller from the top of the key. Texas Tech cut OSU's lead to 47-40 going into the fourth quarter.

Texas Tech knocked down a 3-pointer to start it in the fourth quarter, but OSU went on another 8-0 run. Gray scored 11 points in the fourth quarter to close it out.

Gray lead all scorers chalking up 26 points to go along with nine rebounds and six assists. Miller followed up with 22 points, including four made 3-pointers.

The Cowgirls hit the road Jan. 19 to take on Kansas at 12 p.m.
