Cowgirls Pick Up Road Win In Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team held on to beat Kansas, 72-62, on Saturday tallied its first Big 12 road win of the year in front of 1,792 fans inside Allen Fieldhouse.
The Cowgirls (12-4, 3-2) got off to a hot start hitting five 3-pointers in the first quarter alone. Freshman Ja'Mee Asberry hit three shots from behind the arc in the quarter. Sophomores Braxtin Miller and Vivian Gray both contributed a 3-pointer as OSU took a 19-10 lead into the second quarter.
In the second, OSU kept up the pace and traded buckets with Kansas. Gray assisted on a backdoor cut and layup for Asberry to set her career-high with 15 points in the first half. The Cowgirls held a 34-25 lead entering halftime.
Miller got it going for OSU in the third quarter and scored a quick five points knocking down a 3-pointer and on the next possession drove to the paint and finished with the left hand. Miller finished with seven points in the quarter, but the Jayhawks cut into the lead making it 49-42 in favor of the Cowgirls.
The duo of Gray and Miller took charge in the fourth quarter, scoring a combined 21 points. Gray scored 11 points while Miller scored 10, each making a 3-pointer and converting an and-1.
Gray finished with 23 points followed by Miller with 22 points and Asberry with 19 points. Senior Latashia Jones, freshman Kassidy De Lapp and Gray all finished with eight rebounds for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls will be back on the road on Jan. 23 to face off against Kansas State at 7 p.m.
