MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Isaac Likekele scored a career-high 23 points with nine rebounds and Oklahoma State won its first true road game, beating West Virginia 85-77 on Saturday.
With the victory, the Cowboys (8-8, 2-2 Big 12) have won three straight games inside of the WVU Coliseum. They also boast a 5-2 record against West Virginia while in Morgantown. Both are claims no other Big 12 team can make.
Likekele added nine rebounds and three assists. His 23 points came on a 7-for-10 performance from the field. He also went 9-for-11 from the free-throw line.
The Cowboy defense flexed its muscles once again. They shut down West Virginia (8-8, 0-4 Big 12) from beyond the arc, limiting the Mountaineers to just a 6-for-29 mark from the 3-point line. It's the second straight game OSU has held its opponent under 25 percent from deep.
Cameron McGriff earned his fifth double-double of the season, posting 16 points and 10 rebounds. He also assisted on three made baskets.
After an ugly, back-and-forth first 15 minutes, the Cowboys had a one-point lead before McGriff led a quick 11-2 run with five straight points to stretch the margin to 10 with two minutes left. The Cowboys led 39-28 at halftime.
West Virginia fought back to cut the OSU lead to as low as two points in the second half, but the Cowboys pulled away late to win their second straight game.
The Cowboys make a quick turnaround for their next game. OSU hosts Baylor at 8 p.m. on Monday inside of Gallagher-Iba Arena. You can purchase tickets at okstate.com/tickets.
