NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma State's eight-game unbeaten streak was snapped Sunday as Oklahoma collected a 2-1 win over the 12th-ranked Cowgirls at John Crain Field.
The loss ended OSU's four-game winning streak against its Bedlam rival as the Cowgirls fell to 10-2-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in Big 12 Conference play; the Sooners are now 6-5-2 and 2-1-1 in the league.
OU outshot the Cowgirls by an 18-12 margin, while OSU held a 2-1 advantage on corner kicks.
After a scoreless opening half, OSU took the game's initial lead in the 64th minute. Haley Woodard took a pass from Camy Huddleston, beat her defender and delivered a low shot from the top of the box to the far post to put the Cowgirls up 1-0. The goal was Woodard's sixth of the season, tying her for the team lead and leaving her one shy of moving into to the top 10 on OSU's all-time list with 23.
The lead did not last long, however. In the 71st minute, a header by Marissa McMahand was deflected by an OSU defender, but Emily Parker was there to direct the ball in for the equalizer.
A late goal would give OU the win. Following a scramble in the box with just 2:17 remaining in regulation, Kristina O'Donnell collected a ball in the box that OSU was unable to clear and sent it in for her first goal of the season and a 2-1 advantage for the Sooners.
OSU's final shot came with 48 seconds remaining, but Grace Yochum's attempt was saved by McKinley Crone, who finished with six saves.
Dani Greenlee played the entire game in goal for OSU and posted a career-high seven saves.
OSU returns to action Friday when the Cowgirls host Texas Tech at Neal Patterson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
