STILLWATER – Oklahoma State dropped its second-straight match Friday night as Texas Tech handed the 21st-ranked Cowgirls a 1-0 loss at Neal Patterson Stadium.
With the loss, OSU fell to 10-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in Big 12 Conference play. The defeat was their first-ever loss at Patterson Stadium as the Cowgirls fell to 5-1-1 on their new home field.
Friday's game marked the first time this season that OSU has been shutout. TTU (10-3-1, 2-2-1) outshot the Cowgirls by a slim 12-11 margin, while the home team owned a 6-5 advantage on corner kicks.
The opening half ended scoreless with OSU managing just four shots. Two of those were on frame, but those attempts by Jaci Jones and Haley Woodard were saved by Marissa Zucchetto, who posted her ninth shutout of the season.
The lone score in the match would come at the 66:16 mark. After Ally Griffin was taken down in the box, TTU was awarded a penalty kick; Griffin would step up for the chance and buried her shot past OSU goalie Dani Greenlee.
That goal would hold up despite OSU outshooting the visitors by a 7-4 margin in the second half as Zucchetto tallied two more saves to keep the Cowgirls off the board.
OSU will be off until Friday when the Cowgirls travel to Waco, Texas, to take on Baylor.
