WACO, Texas – Oklahoma State came up short against 14th-ranked Baylor Friday night as the 23rd-ranked Cowgirls dropped a 1-0 contest at Betty Lou Mays Field.
The loss was the third in a row for the Cowgirls as they fell to 10-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in Big 12 Conference play. Baylor is now 12-4-0 and remains atop the league standings at 5-1-0.
Friday's game marked only the second time this season OSU has been shutout. The Bears outshot the visitors by a 21-12 margin, with five of BU's attempts coming in the final 10 minutes, and also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The match was physical throughout, with Baylor being whistled for 19 fouls and drawing two yellow cards; the Cowgirls tallied just eight fouls.
Injuries continued to hinder the Cowgirls as they were without their top two scorers for much of the match. Marlo Zoller did not make the trip to Waco, and Haley Woodard played just 17 minutes in the first half and did not return; both Zoller and Woodard have six goals on the season.
The lone goal in the match came in the 24th minute when Camryn Wednlandt headed home her sixth goal of the season to the near post to put the Bears up 1-0.
Hannah Warner and Dani Greenlee split time in goal for OSU, with Greenlee posting six saves, one shy of her career high, and Warner tallying four.
OSU returns to action Friday when the Cowgirls host nationally-ranked West Virginia in a match set for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
