STILLWATER -- Former Cowboy Standout Lucas Gerch took home the Romania F13 Futures tournament championship this past weekend in Iasi, Romania.
Gerch advanced from the Qualifying Draw, winning two qualifying matches and then won five main draw matches to take the tournament crown.
In his four years at Oklahoma State, Gerch earned his way into the Cowboy Tennis record book. He currently stands second in career singles wins (81), and third in career doubles wins (71) in the Big 12 era.
Gerch is one of three players since 2010 to earn All-Big 12 honors in singles and doubles in the same season (2016).
As much as Gerch excelled on the court, he also shined in the classroom. The Berlin, Germany native was a two-time ITA Scholar athlete and a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.
In 2016, Gerch was named the Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The highest-ranked opponent Gerch took down at the F13 tournament was No. 647 Maxime Pauwels of Belgium. Gerch defeated Pauwels, 7-5, 6-4, in the semifinal.
In the championship, Gerch defeated Kirill Kivattsev of Russia 6-4, 6-2.
