Kansas State is one of the league's best defensive teams. The Wildcats are second best in the Big 12 in scoring defense. They hold opponents to an average of 67.5 points per game. They are also third in the Big 12 in steals per game with 7.9 per game. They have three top-150 players in the country in total steals. Barry Brown Jr. leads the Wildcat trio with 49 steals, a mark good enough for No. 41 in the country.
Taking the Care of the Ball
Kansas State doesn't turn the ball over much. They only commit 11.4 turnovers in an average game. That puts them at the top of the Big 12 in least turnovers per game. The Wildcats' defense also causes 14.8 turnovers per game, putting their turnover margin at +3.4, which is third-best in the Big 12 and a mere .4 behind No. 2 Texas Tech.

Kansas State took on Oklahoma State on Jan. 10, and the Wildcats defended their home court with an 86-82 victory. Kansas State stole the ball eight times and only turned the ball over eight times. Brown Jr. scored 38 points in the first matchup between OSU and KSU. He added two assists and a whopping six steals. Cartier Diarra added 17 points to the Wildcats' effort, and Xavier Sneed had the game's lone double-double for KSU with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Leader of the Pack
Dean Wade is the Wildcats' leader on the floor. He leads the team in scoring with 16.2 points per game, rebounding with 6.4 rebounds per game and 3-point percentage (min. five attempts) with a mark of 44.1 percent. Wade is the only player in the Big 12 in the top 10 of both scoring and rebounding, ranking No. seven in scoring and 10th in rebounding. The junior forward out of St. John, Kansas, has three double-doubles on the year, with his latest coming on Saturday against Texas Tech.

Weber is in his sixth season as the head coach at Kansas State. Weber has led the Wildcats to three 20-win seasons and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Weber is the fifth coach in Kansas State history to lead the Wildcats to three NCAA Tournament berths. Before his time in Manhattan, Kansas, Weber coached Illinois from 2003-2012. He graduated from Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1978 with a B.A. in Education and then got an M.A. in Administration and Physical Education in 1981.
