VENICE, Fla. – A trio of former Oklahoma State women's golfers are participating in Stage II of LPGA Qualifying this week at Plantation Golf and Country Club.
Linnea Johansson, Kenzie Neisen and Maddie McCrary all began play on Monday morning at the 72-hole event in Venice, Florida with the goal of advancing to the third and final round of LPGA qualifying, which is now known as the Q-Series.
According to the LPGA, the top 15-25 players at this week's Stage II will advance to the Q-Series, which is being held in Pinehurst, N.C. from Oct. 22-Nov. 3. Those who do not qualify for the Q-Series will receive 2019 Symetra Tour status.
The Cowgirl trio have their sights set on joining three other Cowgirl greats that finished 104th or better on the 2018 LPGA money list - major winner Pernilla Lindberg, Caroline Masson and Caroline Hedwall.
Both McCrary and Johansson advanced to Stage III of Q-School in 2018. While competing as a senior at OSU, McCrary finished fourth among all amateurs to earn conditional LPGA status, while Johansson earned her Symetra Tour card.
McCrary competed 10 times on the LPGA tour last season, including finishing in a tie for 32nd place at the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic.
A former WGCA All-American at OSU, Johansson competed in 19 Symetra Tour events in 2018. She earned seven top-10 finishes, including a third place bid at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship.
Neisen was a two-time Big 12 individual champion and a four-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, who wrapped up her time at Karsten Creek in the spring of 2018. This is her first attempt at LPGA qualification.
