Cowgirl Golf Trio Named WGCA All-American Scholars
July 05, 2017 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Kenzie Neisen, Linnea Johansson and Chih-Min Chen were named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Twenty different Cowgirls have now been selected for 41 WGCA All-American Scholar awards, which have some of the most stringent requirements in all of collegiate athletics. To be selected a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA.
Nationwide, a total of 952 student-athletes across all divisions were recognized by the WGCA. In the Big 12, only TCU (four) had more selections than Oklahoma State. This also ties for the second most in school history behind only the 2009 squad, which placed for Cowgirls on the WGCA All-American Scholars team.
This marks the second straight year of All-American Scholar honors for Johansson and Chen, and is the first career award for Neisen. In April, these three Cowgirls combined with McCandren Mack and Alexis Sadeghy to give OSU a school-record five student-athletes on the First Team Academic All-Big 12.
Johnansson ends her OSU career as a two-time NGCA All-American Scholar and a three-time First Team Academic All-Big 12 selection. On the course, she was a three-time All-Big 12 honoree and a WGCA All-American in 2016.
Chen has garnered WGCA All-American Scholar awards in each of her first two seasons in Stillwater. She was the 2016 Big 12 Freshman of the Year as well.
Kenzie Neisen is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, as well as a two-time Big 12 Individual Champion.
