Evans Goes 39th Overall To 76ers, Immediately Traded To LA Clippers

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Oklahoma State All-American Jawun Evans was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 39th pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, and was immediately traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Evans, who averaged 19.2 points and a Big 12-high 6.4 assists per game, is now the 33rd Oklahoma State player taken in the NBA Draft, and the 12th in the last 25 years. For a second straight season, the Big 12 had six players taken.
Evans garnered nationwide attention at OSU, and earned third-team All-America honors by The Sporting News, NBC Sports and Bleacher Report. The Associate Press named him an Honorable Mention All-America selection and ESPN's Dick Vitale named him to the fifth team All-Solid Gold.
His numbers placed him in elite company. He was one of just four power conference players to average at least 16.0 points and 6.0 assists per game in league play, joining Lonzo Ball of UCLA, Dennis Smith of N.C. State and Monte Morris of Iowa State.
A native of Dallas, Evans' numbers only got better against tougher competition, as he poured in 20.7 points and 7.1 assists per game over his career against ranked competition.
According to Synergy Sports, Evans led all power conference players in pick and roll points scored (7.6) and created per game (17.0). Over his career, Evans averaged 20.7 points on 45.7 percent shooting and 7.1 assists against AP Top-25 squads.
